"Sonic and the Mystic Mage"
Chapter 4

I turned around in my sleep when the morning sunlight hit my face. Slowly, I woke up and sat up to look out my bedroom window. Then I rubbed the sleep from my eyes and turned to my side but cried out when I saw Sonic clinging on the edge of my bed, smiling casually.

"Good morning!" he said cheerfully.

"Hey, you startled me!" I said.

Sonic was still smiling. "So? Hey, sorry I scared ya, but why aren't I allowed to say good morning to a once adorable little--"

"I said don't rub it in," I intervened. "Now please excuse me, I need to comb my hair."

Sonic got out of the way as I got out of bed. I walked up to my cherry wood dresser and wardrobe, sat down on my vanity stool, grabbed my comb and started combing. I can sense that Sonic is watching me from my bed. Then my thoughts went back to the other night when Sonic was smiling mildly at me. What the heck does he want from me? Was he crushing on me and needs me to crush on him? What does he want?

Suddenly a large wave of guilt rushed over me, but I didn't know why. Then I said out of the blue, "Sonic... I'm really sorry for the way I behaved back then. I'm just flustered from my parents not telling me about you or your friends."

Sonic didn't even break his smile when he came over me. Oh, geez. I shoulda kept my mouth shut(1).

My heart pounded hard and I was sweating as Sonic appraoched.

"It's all right," he said, still smiling. "If you didn't want me here, it's your decision; ya just hafta say so."

"Well, I understand fully that you need to get back to your own world somehow and sooner or later, but--" I stopped immedeately, trying to gain control of my talking. What am I doing(2)?!

"But what?" Sonic stopped smiling and I was back to normal. That was strange(3). Why was my heart beating so hard previously when he was smiling? Was he flirting with me or something?

"Nothing, never mind," I said finally as I resumed combing. When I was done I went to the bathroom.

While I was there, I splashed water on my face. Just calm down,. You'll just have to adjust for the time being. Sonic is just a house guest; just deal with it until he goes back home.

Suddenly my thoughts went straight back to Sonic smiling mildly(3) when he came over to my vanity. Immideately, I got hot inside. I looked in the mirror to see that my face is already flushing. I dropped down to my knees breathing heavily. My body felt like it was on fire(4).

Stop it!Push it out of your head! I weakly stood up and again splashed cold water on my face to bring down my fever. It did go down, but my heart was beating fast. Repeatedly I splashed cold water all over my face until my heart slowed down. to its normal rate.

Just get ahold of yourself, and don't think about it ever again. Seeing that my face isn't flushed anymore, I went downstairs to the kitchen to get a glass of water. In seconds it was gone. Then I went back upstairs to my room to get dressed.

As I went there, I saw Sonic standing on my bed(5) looking at my picture gallery. I looked down and I already saw that he pushed the cot back under and the blanket along with it; that was pretty responsible of him to do so(6).

"I was just admiring your cosplay pictures," Sonic said. "You looked pretty good in all of these. Especially the one with a black slim dress. She a video game character?"

"She is," I admitted. "Her name is M.O.M.O. from the Xenosaga series. She is my favorite character 'cause she's really awesome and super-cute, too! M.O.M.O is also a robot; well a prototype Type 100 Realian android, to be more specific. My mom ordered the M.O.M.O cosplay online for my 13th birthday for a video game convention downtown."

"Sounds like you really like video games," Sonic guessed.

I smiled and said, "Of course I do(7), but I've never played Xenosaga; but I have watched the anime on YouTube."

"Cool!" said Sonic. "Maybe you should introduce me to the anime sometime."

"Okay, I will."

Sonic got off of my bed and put on his shoes.

"I need to get dressed now," I said. "So please wait out while I do so."

"Okay." Sonic walked out and closed my door. Keeping my promise, I walked to my wardrobe and pulled out a drawer of panties, socks and bras and got out a pair out of each, including the white pink thigh-high socks(8).

A few minutes later, I went downstairs to grab some coffee(9). As I went to the kitchen, I spotted Sonic waiting for me at the dinner table.

"So, tell me," he said, turning around. "As I got downstairs, the whole kitchen was deserted. In fact, the house was deserted when I came down. When I looked at the note on the fridge, it said that your parents work full-time jobs."

"Well, my mom's a florist," I confessed as I sat down in front of Sonic. "While my dad is an architiect, and they usually work long hours and come home when I go to bed. The only things that keep me company are my video games and my Wii, and friends from school that I often invite over for social visits, plus a housekeeper/babysitter. And there are times when I go to a video game arcade a few blocks north, mainly to play 'Dance Dance Revolution', so it does get lonely in here sometimes."

"I see," Sonic sympathized. "I fully understand."

"Uh-huh." I got up and walked to the pantry to get a plastic jar of ground coffee. "I'm gonna make some coffee; would you like a cup, too?"

"Okay, thanks!" replied Sonic.

I got the cups and saucers from the cupboard and set them on the counter for later use. Next, I filled the coffee pot with water and poured it in the Mr. Coffee machine and set the pot on the coaster so that the water would drip heavily in the pot.

"It'll only take a few minutes," I confessed. "Depending on how much water you put in the coffee pot; that's how the Mr. Coffee machines like this work. So, in the meantime, why don't we get to know each other better?"

"Fine by me," agreed Sonic. "So let's start with me. I can run faster than a cheetah."

My eyes widened when he said that. Then I smiled and said jokingly, "Hey, c'mon, is that a lie?(10)"

"Nuh-uh, it's true; heck, I can even run faster than the speed of sound!"

I tried not to giggle(11). "You're joking."

"No, really I can, 'cause I'm one with the wind; you know I'm right!"

I was giggling a little; not because he was bluffing, but the way he says stuff like what he just said(12).

"If you don't believe me, then place some bets on me to run through and around the city under, say... 5 minutes?"

I was really giggling. "Y-you're on."

Suddenly I heard a dull draining sound. It was from the Mr. Coffee. "Sounds like it's done." I picked up the coffee pot and poured the hot water into the cups. Then I put two spoonfuls of ground coffee into each cup and stirred them up, and lastly, I took the milk from the fridge and poured a little into each of them.

"Coffee's on," I announced as I brought the cups over to the table. "Thanks!" Sonic took one of the cups as I set mine down and sat down to socialize a little more with him.

RIIINNGG-RIIINGG! The phone rang loud before I could go any further. I walked up and answered the phone, "Yes?... Oh, hi, Sei. ...Oh, no!.... Bummer. ....That's okay, we'll play next weekend once you feel better. Uh-huh. Bye." I set the phone down.

"Who was it?" inquired Sonic.

"One of my friends from school, Sei Moroko; he's not feeling very well."

"Ouch."

"Yesterday, I was inviting him over to play Super Smash Bros. Revolution, but it turns out he can't make it." I sighed. "Looks like it's just you and me then, Sonic."

"Okay," he said as he drank his coffee. "I'm game for Super Smash Bros. Revolution. After I've proven to you how fast I am."

"I haven't forgotton that bet," I said as I drank mine. "So, when do you start?"

Instantly, Sonic got off the chair and went for the door. I followed him there as well.

He opened the the front door and said, "Now! And don't forget to time me!" And then he ran off in a flash. Whoa. He really wasn't lying.

5 minutes later, Sonic was back. "So, how'd I do?"

"Right on time," I said.

"So you believe me now?"

"Yeah, you're really fast." I felt faint(13), but I didn't care. "Say, how 'bout we have something to eat? I'm feeling pretty hungry, anyway."

"Me, too," Sonic agreed. "Anything good?"

"Well, there's two pizzas in the oven right now; they'll be done in about 10 more minutes."

"Plenty of time to play Revolution!"

"Okay!"

So we went back inside and played for 10 more minutes. Through this period of time, we played in versus mode; I played as Princess Zelda, Sonic as a Pokemon Trainer (strange, don't ya think?). From time to time Sonic and I laughed, mainly at things going wrong, such as last-minute think-fasts, things dumbly walking into set traps, you name it.

Suddenly, the oven timer bleeped. Most likely the pizzas. Eager, we paused the game and went into the kitchen. I opened the oven door and got out the pizzas and set them on the table.

"It should take a tiny while for them to cool like the instructions said," I assured.

"Y'know, I couldn't help but notice that pendant around your neck," said Sonic, changing the subject(14). "It looks good on you, even though you wear preteen clothes."

"Thanks," I replied. "It's an amulet I got for one of my birthdays; supposedly, it's a talisman against all evil. And it's also said that miracles can happen if you wear it for a long period of time."

"Neat," exclaims Sonic.

I touched the pizzas with my bare hand, making sure that they are cool enough to eat. "Well, feels like they're cool. Let's eat."

"All right!" Sonic gave me a thumbs up, but I didn't wanna think too much about it.


After lunch is done, Sonic suggested, "Let's go play some more Revolution, Miia!"

"Uh, I think that's enough Revolution for today," I said. "But, we can go and visit the nursery; that's where my mom works."

Sonic appeared to beam at my suggestion and said, "Okay, cool! Let's go; just show me the way."

"Okay! But first, let me save the game before we go anywhere."

"Oh, yeah, right."

So I went  to the living room, saved the current game to a different block, and turned of the TV.

"Alrighty, let's go!" I went out the door and Sonic followed me out. But before we could get any further, some black shadow is spreading on the ground. I looked up at the sky, but there weren't any clouds covering the sun.

That's so strange. If the large shadow is on the ground, the why is there no cloud--?

My thoughts were interrupted when Sonic picked me up in his arms bridal style and jumped onto a concrete fence(15).

"Sonic, what're you--?!" I started to say.

Sonic intervened, "I saw a black tentacle of some sort wrap around your leg, so I had to grab you and jump on the fence!"

"Black tentacle!?" I looked at the shadow, and the shadow is quickly rising into a large heap of glossy black-purple goo. The goo then formed into some hellish(16) four-armed monster with rugged stone armor on its shoulders, chest, arms and head and roared like a T-rex being broiled alive in a hot spot volcano.

On its left, and mine, while I was still in Sonic's arms. I saw a chubby figure with lavender skin, pointed ears and gazelle horns and glossy black hair tied into a ponytail (with the rest of his head bald)and wearing white parahcute pants, a purple twisted waistband and purple curl-toed slippers sitting on a magic carpet; I knew instantly that Sonic and I aren't even seeing things.

Suddenly, Sonic jump off behind the fence with still me in his arms.

"What the--?!" Sonic put his finger on my lips and his to his lips. Then he jumped on the fence and yelled, "Yo, Play-Doh monster!"

I was shocked and confused at what he's doing. "Sonic, what the hell are you doing?!" I wanted to say, but should I ask this, he would just say, "Just run! I'll take care of this!". Only I don't wanna run away, I just wanna help somehow(17).

"Ya wanna piece of me?!" he yelled again.

I peeked up a little over, and the genie made a gesture and the monster made a stretch punch at Sonic. He jumped to dodge, but the monster broke the fence (and I dodged just in time) and its hand stretched back to it. Next thing I knew, is that Sonic is on top of the goo monster's armored arm, looking smug. I peeked through the large hole, but I stayed so that I could see what was happening. Immideatley, the monster slapped its arm, but Sonic dodged to the ground, smiling. Oh, brother. Somebody pinch me, please! But then again, I have to help Sonic, but how?

Still watching from the ground I saw that the genie was getting frustrated. "Just how fast is this hedgehog?!" I heard him say. The monster then punched at the spot Sonic was standing, but Sonic jumped really high and yelled, "Catch me if ya can!!"

But suddenly, the monster reached up and grabbed Sonic; I gasped when it done so. Sonic was struggling to get free, but the monster tightned its grip even more and Sonic screamed in pain. Then the genie said, "Sorry, but you've already wasted enough of our time." Then he ordered the monster, "Squeeze the life out him, will you?" and the monster is doing what it is told.

Unwilling to take this anymore, I entered the battle field, "Leave him alone!". The genie and the monster heard me and saw me on the ground. "Come get me!"

"Miia, run!" Sonic said weakly. "It's too dangerous!"

I ignored his call and focused on the goo monster. The genie said as the monster grabbed my arms and lifted me of the ground, "Sorry, little girl, but do not interfere like your blue friend is doing just now. If you do anyway, then you and he will suffer together."

Ignoring his warning out of anger, I screamed, "LET GOOO!!!"

Suddenly, the monster lost its grips on me and Sonic and I was plunging to the ground when Sonic once again caught me his arms and landed to the ground without a scratch on him,or me.

"That was amazing!" Sonic was astonished for some reason. "Howd'you that?"

"Did what?" I googled at him, puzzled. But just as he was about to answer, the monster's arm impacted on us, but Sonic dodged just in time and he put me down.

Suddenly, the monster's other arm was about to crush us to death.

"Look out!" Sonic hugged me instantly, but as he done so, a flash of wind that supposedly came from Sonic knocked out the monster's aim. Sonic turned around fast, and we can both see that a stone armor had fallen off its hand and dissolved. Not only that, but the monster also roared in pain. Not having enough time to ask, Sonic picked me up bridal style and carried me behind the broken concrete fence.

Miia, can you hear me? I heard suddenly. I looked around, but there was no one around.

Miia, can you hear me? the voice said again.

"Who said that?" Sonic I asked at the same time.

It is me, it replied. The voice of your destiny.

Destiny?

Yes, now listen to me; you and Sonic are the potential Mystic Mages.

What? But--

There will be time for explanations later, the voice said. Right now, you must fight this monster by transforming.

Transforming? I thought.
Yes, now grasp your amulet, repeat after me: "Mystic Dress-up!"

Without hesitation, I did as the voice told.

~~Mystic Metamorphois/Dress-up stage~~

"Mystic Dress-up!!"
"Mystic Metamorphosis!!" [Sonic yelled.]

Miia raises her arms; her clothes are then ripped off by the impact; winds and tidal waves surrounded her body and formed into a cerulean sleeveless turtle-neck swimsuit with an opening around her middle. Next to appear are green mini-skirt with lace trimming and a v-opening in the middle of it, cerulean stockings and a sky blue tint fingerless gloves with shaggy cuffs like Sonic's. Appearing presently are red shoes with one-inch heels and white platforms and white straps and blue seashells appearing on the opposite side of each foot and scarf-like shaggy cuffs (sky blue in color) with seashells in the center. Next to appear are gold leg anklets (shins, if you please) with straps extending from bottom to top; the same went for her arms except for the straps. Also next to appear are fish fins, Lugia wings, and light blue seaweed with red orbs suspended from them. Then a larger red orb rams between her breasts and formed a green wrap top that covered another third of her swimsuit. Next off, Miia's red hair changes to a cerulean blue, and her hair is completely altered to quills and she grows hedgehog ears, her blue-green eyes change to a grass green and a thin brass headband forms. Smaller fish fins and Lugia wings appear also, and an even larger red orb suspends from a wire, and lastly she grows a hedgehog tail.

Sonic's transformation sequence is the same except that his shoes and gloves are altered into one-inch heeled shoes with seashells and sky blue bracelets on his wrists, also, green and cerulean wraps appear out of the red orb which is on his chest as well.

Suddenly, with a series of tidal waves and winds, Sonic and I changed into what the voice calls Mystic Mages. We looked at each other, amazed and shocked about the change. "Is this what the voice meant by Mystic Mage!?!" we blurted out.
