"Sonic and the Mystic Mage"
Chapter 5

"Is this what the voice meant by 'Mystic Mage?!'" both Sonic and Miia blurted out after they transformed. Sonic was horrified at what he's wearing. Aqua blue bracelets, a green and cerulean wrap with a red orb on his chest, gold below-leg anklets with gold strands between them, sky blue scarves with a seashell on the front (you might think that this is a beach theme), shiny red shoes with half-inch heels, gold arm bracelets, a brass head band with another red orb dangling on a wire, and as a cherry on top, from Miia's perspective, fish fins and wings on his head band and lower back (Oh, freaking hell, Sonic thought unpleasantly).

Sonic looked up to Miia and let out a small yelp at what she's wearing: a cerulean sleeveless turtleneck leotard (with a large cirlce cut out to reveal her middle), with a green wrap on the top of her body with a red orb between her breasts (he does not tend to be sexual), gold arm bracelets with gold strands, a green laced miniskirt with a center v-cut, cerulean stockings with gold below-leg anklets with gold strands, red, two-inch heeled shoes with sky blue scarf tops with seashells on the front, wings and fish fins on her lower back, a brass headband with a red orb dangling on a wire with fish fins and wings on the headband, ceruleaan hair with stem green eyes, hedgehog ears and a tail.

"Good grief!" exclaimed Sonic. "Even your hair looks the same! This is just too freaky!"

"This is no time to be embarrassed, Sonic!" Miia urged. "We've got a got an armored goo monster plus a genie to take care of!"

"U-uh, right!" Sonic replied.

Miia and Sonic jumped onto the concrete fence and Sonic yelled, "Yo, Dark Iblis!"

The genie and armored goo monster turned around quickly (it seemed to Miia that they were going off somewhere) to see me and Miia on the fence ready for a second-chance battle between the four of them.

"And you two might be...?" the genie asked as he raised a brow.

Sonic was trying to remember what the voice said previously, and then Miia and answered the genie:

Sonic: "Emmisary of light, I am Mystic Sonic!"
Miia: "Emmisary of light, I am the Wind-Sea Mystic!"
Sonic and Miia: "Together, we are the Mystic Mages!"
Miia: "Dark servants of evil..."
Sonic: "...Go back to the abyss where you belong!"

Despite the genie's suprised look, he said, "Hmph, never heard of you." Then he turned to the monster, "Do the honors, will you?"

The monster raised its upper arm and tried to crush sonic and Miia again, but luckily, Miia and him dodged, but my some miracle, she and him were actually floating high.

Sonic, the voice is back again. Use the magic of the wind to make its armor fall off; I have told Miia the same.

Instantly, Sonic understood (though he is confused), and in his hands, a ball of wind formed, and immediatley, he threw it, and the wind ball enlarged and smacked the goo monster's armor off (which dissolved in the process), and the monster again roared in pain; now it only has two bare lower arms with only its chest and upper arms and face and head with armor (with the smell of sea salt) remaining. And Miia launched a wind attack and knocked off the chest and part of the upper arm armor.

Sonic was amazed at what she's done. "Nice attack, Miia! You really hit two armors off that time!" Sonic gave her a thumbs up upon saying it.

"Not really," she confessed. "Looks like that thing's pretty tough; even though it screams in pain each time a piece of armor falls off."

Its weak spot is the glowing membrane on its armored head, the voice returned. Launch a wind-sea combination attack, and it will be destroyed.

What wind-sea combination attack? Sonic asked in my thoughts.

You and Miia will cast a powerful spell on the weak spot; this spell is called "Mystica Poseidus Tornudum (Mystic Poseidon Tornado)".
Understood, thought Sonic. "Miia!"

"I know! The monster's weak spot is the glowing membrane on the head armor; let's aim for it!"

"Right!"

The two met up, raised their hands and a balls of wind formed, next two sea/green fires formed and merged with the wind balls and we locked them together to merge. Then Miia and Sonic grabbed it with our hands, and yelled this spell the voice said: "MYSTICA POSEIDUS TORNUDUM!!" and then they fired a very large twister of sea water and wind straight to the weak spot the voice specified. The goo monster was destroyed, but it dissolved to a mirror, and then the mirror shattered and disappeared.

The genie is really flustered up upon what he has seen. "Ohh, the Mirror Master will not be pleased when he hears of this!!" The genie then disappeared in a dark purple fire.

Miia and Sonic then hovered down to the ground exhausted (and do I still smell sea salt?!).

"Just... now..." she was panting. "I don't think we are seeing things, nor is any of this whole fiasco happening our imaginations, is it?"

Sonic thought about this current fiasco she said about, and then he said, "No... I don't hink so..."

You have done well, you two.

It's the voice again. Sonic turned to Miia, and the red orb on her chest glowed and showed an image of a woman with bird wings and tail, with her hair in part bird crest, the rest in a very, very low ponytail, which extended down almost below her knees. She is wearing a light sky blue see-through robe with sky blue ribbons around her waist, neck and her drooping long sleeves, sky blue flats, and a tiara encrusted with sapphires. She looked beautiful.

"I am Queen Arcadia," the woman introduced herself. "Ruler of the planet Malvirah, and also the mystic blue jay." She then looked at me and said, "You, of course, are Sonic the Hedgehog."
Sonic blushed and smiled and scratched his head at the same time. "You got that right."

Arcadia also turned to Miia, "And you are Miia Kyouko."

"How do you who we both are?" Miia asked, puzzled.

Arcadia answered, "I have known you since the day you were born."

"You have, have you?" Sonic wanted to say, but he didn't want to be rude, even when it comes to "royalty" and all.

Instead, he said, "What's this planet Malvirah like? Are there any of these 'mystics' like you?"

"Yes," said Arcadia sadly. "But my race is extinct; and it always grieves me to even think about it, or else tell it to you."

"I... errr... don't mean to be rude or anything," Miia intervened. "But, I think we should talk about this somewhere... less public."

Later, Miia and Sonc were back at Miia's room, continuing their conversation with Queen Arcadia.

"So what you're saying is," Sonic was saying. "You can get your powers sometimes based on only overcoming your limitations and obstacles?"

"Yes," Arcadia answered. "The magical powers you know have are the wind and sea."

Sonic's heart skipped a beat when she said that. Sea?! That's in the topic of water! And that explains the sea salt while they were fighting back then. sonic then got sick to his stomach when he thought about it. But then he thought about the thing Arcadia said about over coming your obstacles and limitations. He remembered 16 years ago that when himself and his friends were on the beach, Amy was drowning, so he had to dive into the ocean and rescue her. And again when he was finally back on my world, he gave Amy a white rose, saying that he likes her very much and promising her to never her behind. He theorizes that goes under the "overcoming-obstacles/limitations" topic. But then he thought depressingly about that promise back then. Did he really break it? If so, he really didn't mean it; he was just Chaos-Controlled back to the human world without warning.

But Sonic's thoughts were interrupted when Miia asked Arcadia, "If Sonic's magic is sea and wind, then, what other powers are they out there somewhere?"

Arcadia answered, "Remember, there are two powers in each orble, and these powers were incarnated in other creatures' bodies, such as Sonic's."

"Well, then, if that's true, then which creatures' bodies?" Miia asked. Sonic was trying to pay attention, but he felt like I'm going to vomit because of his thinking about water, so he was trying hard to push it out.

"You can detect other magic powers in people or creatures' bodies using your orble and your amulet," the queen answered.

"Really," said Sonic almost sickly. "We can?"

"Yes," replied Arcadia. "I will inform you in case when either a Mirror Beast is present, or else a new mage is born."

"Thank you, Queen Arcadia," Miia said gratefully. "One other thing: if your mystic animal race is extinct, then how come they are still present, even in this world?"

"After my race died out, including myself, only the pure-hearted became ghosts: watching, witnessing, listening, protecting, ensuring, hiding; I am one of them."

When she said that, Sonic thought straight back to the time he saved Miia from the burning building. Judging from what Arcadia said, he thought this is why he was suddenly transported back outside with little Miia still in my arms (and with him still being sick, that is).

"So, what should we do now?" Miia then asked.

"You must prepare yourselves for the cataclysmic battle that once occurred 10 thousand years ago, for the darkness is gathering again quietly," Arcadia answered. "To do that, you must find the other new mages, and learn new spells for the battles ahead. I wish you luck, my good mages. The fate of your world and Sonic's world now lies in your hands." Arcadia then said as she bowed, "Farewell, until we meet again." and then disappeared into gold sparkles.

Sonic was glad for her to leave because he would've barfed and would be-- Oh, geez, he thought.

He then dashed to the bathroom, opened the toilet seat, and threw up immideately ( it served him right for thinking too much about his hydrophobia and not paying attention a few times while Arcadia, Miia and himself were talking). Sonic lifted his head up from the toilet, teary-eyed, flushed the toilet and closed the toilet seat and sat down, panting.

Miia rushed into the bathroom and then approached me worried. She must've heard sonic throw up from her bedroom. "Are you okay?"

"Barely," Sonic replied weakly.

"Have some mouthwash," Miia offered as she got the mouthwash from the bathroom closet. "The directions say that you should swish fifteen milliliters of this in your mouth for 30 seconds or so." Miia opened the mouthwash bottle, poured the amount she said into the plastic cup, and gave it to me. Sonic then put the mouthwash into his mouth (it was bubble-gum flavored at the time), rinsed it for half a minute like she said, and spat out the wash into the sink.

"So what made you throw up?" Miia then asked.

"Seasickness," answered Sonic (a possible joke, but Sonic knows that now is not the time for it).

"Seasickness? Wait, do you mean about your wind-sea magic Arcadia said?"

"Uh-huh."

"And just because you're hydrophobic?"

"Uh-huh."

Miia gave away an annoyed sigh and said, "Sonic you need to overcome your hydrophobia; 'cuz if you don't then the whole world is still gonna be in grave danger like Arcadia said, so snap out of it and accept your powers. We need each other's help, or we'll never be able to protect it against these Mirror Beasts."

"Okay, okay, okay," said the blue hedgehog, trying to recover from his sickness. "So now what?"

"Like Arcadia said, we need to work together to find these mages; they could be in your world or they could be here."

"I'm still rooting for any of my friends to dimensional transfer to here with the Master Emerald, 'cause I'm very sure that they are worried sick about me."

"I know."

Miia took Sonic by his hand and they walked back to her bedroom. She then pulled out his cot from under her bed and said, "Since you vomited, I think you should rest." as she unfolded his blanket.

"What? But--" Sonic started to say.

"You need rest," she intervened. "Even after you throw up."

Sonic knew he couldn't talk my way out of this (and that it was true), so he took off my shoes and climbed into the cot.

"I'll go get some medication to settle your stomach," Miia said.

"Okay," he replied.

Miia then went back downstairs as Sonic pulled the blanket on his lap and pulled his knees to his face. Less than a minute later, she's back with the medication and a glass of water in each of her hands.

"Here," she offered.

"Thanks," said Sonic as he took one glass with the stomach medication, drank it, and then took the other glass that has the water in it and drank it.

Sonic then plopped down from exhaustion (the aftermath of the battle with the goo monster, or Mirror Beast, as Queen Arcadia implied) when Miia asked, "You tired?"

"A little," admitted Sonic.

Miia gave a small smile and said, "Then try to rest for a little while; I'm gonna make some supper, along with some flattened ginger ale; that'll help your stomach."

"Okay."

Miia went back downstairs as Sonic turned over in his cot. His thoughts went straight back 16 years ago back on his home world when and where he promised Amy he would never, ever leave her (and that wasn't a total lie). He then felt sad and guilty inside. Maybe he did break my promise (Sonic has never broken a promise before, especially when telling your feelings to someone he really likes), and she would be mad at him and never speak to hime again, yet Amy cared a lot about him, but she's always been chasing me around all of the time, but deep down, Sonic thinks she really is... cute, but in an annoying sort of way.

Inside, Sonic felt like crying because he couldn't bear to see the sadness and anger he has, especially Amy, but he fell asleep anyway.

"Well, look who's failed us again," a boy figure said.

"Why did you do that last time, Fakir?" another figure asked with a feminine voice.

"I-it wasn't my fault this time, you guys," the genie, now known as Fakir, protested. "I've already started looking for one of the Chaos Emeralds, but then this hedgehog and some Earth girl attacked me and the Mirror Beast."

"Blue hedgehog?"

"Earth girl?" a feminine figure with bat wings said.

"They weren't just normal beings," Fakir explained. "They had magic powers; those I believe are wind-sea magic."

"Wind-sea magic..." the boy said under his breath. "That sounds familiar for some reason..."

"And strangely enough," concluded Fakir. "The girl and hedgehog seemed... similar in appearance."

"How similar?" an older boy with bird wings said.

"They both wear the same clothing, have the same magic, the same hair and eye color, they even have both hedgehog ears and a tail!"

"Hmm..." the girl figure is thinking. "I think we should overlook this, and when we do, we will destroy them, so they won't even interfere again."

"Capital idea!" the bat-winged woman said.

Suddenly, a dull, crystal-sounding alarm sounded. The boy then said," It's time; I don't think the Mirror Master will be pleased when she hears your progress, Fakir."

Fakir didn't say anything as he and the other figures disappeared in a smog of a black-purple gas, seeking to report to this "Mirror Master".
